Zaha Hadid was born into a world with few boundaries. A precocious child, she negotiated the freedom to choose her own wardrobe as an 8-year-old and put her talents to use designing rooms for the family as a teenager. She was born in Iraq at a time when the country was soaked in liberation, optimism and potential, to a family that offered her every opportunity through liberal education, confident role models, and cultural exposure.
